Editorial Board

The scholars and academics responsible for the scholarly rigour, editorial independence, and intellectual standards of all Nahj Institute publications.

Role of the Board

The Editorial Board of Nahj Institute is the primary body responsible for upholding the scholarly and ethical standards of all Institute publications, including the Nahj Journal and the Research section of the website.

Board members are drawn from across the disciplines represented in Nahj's research programme: Islamic intellectual history, political thought, theology, history and culture, and science and ethics. The Board operates independently of funders, institutional affiliates, and external parties. Its judgements on matters of editorial policy and individual submissions are final.

All submissions to the Nahj Journal undergo double-blind peer review overseen by the Board. Website essays and policy briefs are reviewed by a minimum of one Board member or designated external reviewer before publication.

Our Editorial Principles

01

Double-Blind Review

All journal submissions undergo double-blind peer review. Reviewers do not know the author; authors do not know the reviewers. This is non-negotiable.

02

Editorial Autonomy

The Board makes all editorial decisions without reference to funders, donors, or external institutions. No party may direct, delay, or suppress any publication decision.

03

Scholarly Rigour

We assess submissions on the quality of argument, the soundness of evidence, and the contribution to existing scholarship. Political acceptability is not a criterion.

04

Transparent Corrections

Errors, once identified and confirmed, are corrected and clearly marked. We do not alter published content without notice to readers.

We Are Recruiting Board Members

Nahj Institute is actively seeking scholars for all board positions. If you hold expertise in one of our research areas and are committed to open-access, independent scholarship, we would welcome a conversation.
